Property of the Fortnight: Villa Antonia

We’ve travelled up to the heart of Wine Country to find you this beauty in Sonoma. This Tuscan style villa nestled in 1.5 acres feels like the perfect rural retreat, but is only a mile from the bustling Sonoma Plaza.

It is currently owned by a local chef who uses the gardens to grow his own organic produce as well as giving private cooking lessons in the outdoor kitchen with wood burning pizza oven. There’s a gorgeous pool for when you need a cool down after all that cooking and with a spot of fencing, I think there’s definitely room for a goat or two!

The house is a cozy 1,500 sq ft with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The living area is jam packed with character from the gorgeous floors, rustic walls and magnificent fireplace and makes you feel like you are in a real, solid home. The kitchen is small but fully functioning with some great appliances, well it was designed by a chef, so who are we to argue!

If you get bored of cooking up a storm, taking a dip in the pool, petting your new goats and admiring the stunning views you can always wander into town. As far as I’m concerned, at 1 mile, it’s walking distance to town but you may get some strange looks from the car happy locals, although, as you’re in the heart of Wine Country maybe not. Also, I’ve found if you wear some form of athletic wear while strolling you get far less bemused looks and questions.

If you do ditch the car and take a stroll, make sure you have a go at some of the wine tasting on offer, it’s literally everywhere and when you get bored of Sonoma wine, Napa is just a few miles down the road. If not, you can check out our article: Best of the Bay: Sonoma Without the Wine for some family friendly, alcohol free options.

Villa Antonia is up for sale with the incredibly lovely and knowledgeable Valerie Caccia for $2,500,000 and you can check out Sotheby’s for the full listing. Open houses are on Saturday & Sunday 1-4pm if you’d like to take a peek for yourself. There are definitely cheaper properties in the area as you tend to get far more bang for your buck here than down in the South Bay, but few have the fantastic combination of land and character this one does.
